Privacy policy

System 3 (No Instructions, LLC) collects minimal data to provide Relay services:

• Email address, name, and profile photo from your authentication provider
• Authentication timestamps
• Relay names and user associations
• Plugin version number

Data sharing

We share data with service providers as necessary to operate our business:

• AWS, Cloudflare, Jamsocket — infrastructure and real-time collaboration
• Stripe — payment processing
• Plausible — privacy-focused website analytics (no cookies, no personal data)
• Mixpanel — product analytics (server interactions only, no telemetry in local client)
• Attio — customer support

We do not sell your personal data.

We only have access to vault files you explicitly choose to share through Relay. Your other Obsidian files remain private on your device.

How Relay works

When you add a note to a Relay Server, the Relay plugin tracks changes in a local database on your machine. These updates are synchronized and stored using our cloud providers.

If you self-host the Relay Server, your files are synchronized using your own infrastructure. Our control plane is involved only for identity, permissions, and configuration. Our server sees limited metadata; file content is architecturally private.

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We don't currently support end-to-end encryption. If you need architectural privacy, we recommend our self-hosting option. For more details about how we protect your data, see our security page.

Plugin usage

The Relay plugin periodically checks connectivity with our servers to ensure proper operation.

Cookies

We use first-party cookies for session authentication and A/B testing on our website.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us.

Account deletion

Users can delete relays at any time.

To delete your entire account, contact us through our contact page.

Age requirement

Users must be at least 13 years old to use our service.

Updates

We may update this policy. For significant changes, we will notify users via email or through the Relay plugin.
